What to look for when buying portable chargers

It seems that the more evolved our technology becomes, the shorter amount of time we can use them between charges. If you quickly think about the portable devices you may own, it would probably be your phone, tablet, laptop, camera, MP3 player, and the list continues. Using these devices during a normal 8 – 5 would not necessarily pose a problem, as their batteries should hold out through your day. Phones could die on you during the day but that is why we have portable phone chargers such as car chargers. For any other conceivable scenario, you can also just take a charger along if you fear you might run out of power. On the other hand, few people like to schlep along all their chargers in the fear that they might run out of power. For those the option is simple: buy a power bank, and fret no more.

The first thing you need to establish is the amount of milliampere-hour or mAh you need. Milliampere-hour, one thousandth of an ampere an hour, is a unit of electric charge equal to the charge transferred by a steady current of one milliampere flowing for one hour. To give you an idea, the new Apple iPhone 6 Plus has a 2915 mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 2550 mAh battery. If you had to charge these from a power bank, you will need at least 3000 mAh of power to charge any of these devices once – and then not to their full charge ability, as some power gets lost in the transference. Another thing that has to be kept in mind when you buy a power bank is whether multiple devices can be charged from the one power bank. Will you be able to charge your Apple phone, your Samsung laptop and your no-name MP3 player all from the same power bank?

portable charger – not that not ALL chargers are portable – is a fantastic gadget to keep in your car, your overnight bag, or your laptop bag. It gives you that little extra peace of mind that you need when life happens. Sometimes you just run out of juice and you don’t have another option than to turn to your handy power bank. It is definitively the “it” gadget to consider if you constantly run out of power. Phones and tablets get slimmer and lighter; some even bend. The problem is that nine times out of ten, you sacrifice battery power in the process. Keep your devices on with a power bank. Of course, it’s also a handy tool when load shedding leaves you in the dark. Plug that bad boy into your device and you are ready to roll!
